Honored and Humbled. Those are the overwhelming feelings we experienced due to the incredible show of support at our most recent Embark Women event. It was our second quarterly event — our inaugural “Get to Know Embark” debut meeting technically being our first. The Embark Women leadership called the meeting to order and gave a brief update on what we’ve accomplished in only three short months and what we’re planning for the future.
Embark Women’s goal is to build a bridge between the needs of women in East Texas and our local resources. We got to witness that happen during an evening of delving into serious topics that affect women within and without our local community while making meaningful connections between women from various backgrounds. Although we may be different, we have a common goal — to give support to each other and to have the conversations needed that preclude progress.
Tasneem Raja — co-founder of The Tyler Loop gave a Mini-Keynote address where she talked about the positive changes she’s seeing in Tyler and the possibility for women to be the vanguard driving force. She commended Embark Women for creating a space that “looks more like Tyler” — a real representation of our eclectic town —. (Thanks, Tasneem! We hope to always be worthy of such high praise.) Watch Tasneem’s full speech below!
After Tasneem’s address, we broke into table topics and the interaction and fun continued from there. We’re grateful to everyone who attended and were brave enough to speak out, offer their involvement and support to us as a group and to individual attendees, and share their candid opinions in a positive way that lifts us all.
We would like to thank the table hostesses who did an amazing job leading their topics! Without the volunteers, the event could not have run as smoothly as it did! If anyone would like to volunteer for future events, Please click here!
Embark Women’s next quarterly event is tentatively planned for early August. We’re partnering with Coffee Outside Tyler to offer a collaborative community event. Our organizations share the common goal of promoting an inclusivity and making connections. More details to come.
We would be remiss if we didn’t specifically thank Juls for such wonderful support, providing snacks, beverages, and a beautiful venue for our event. The community love Embark has received encourages us to continue pushing forward. We couldn’t do it without our supporters. If you’d like to assist the Embark Women initiative, we’d love to hear from you.
Stay tuned for more information on future events. Currently in the works are:
- Embark Women International support group (partnering with Graduate Student Association at The University of Texas at Tyler)
- Ideation & Business Brainstorming Workshops (in support of the Innovation Pipeline Business Plan Competition)
- Future discussion panels such as our previous “Favorite Failures” event recently held at UT Tyler
- …and more!
As always, we’d love to hear from you! And we’ll be reaching out to some of you with opportunities to get more involved soon. Here’s to working together to change lives and making a difference one meaningful connection, event, and conversation at a time!
