“And suddenly you know: It’s time to start something new and trust the magic of beginnings.”― Meister Eckhart
We had our first Embark Women meeting 3 days ago and I am still blown away by the sheer awesomeness of the women present in the room. I am a recent engineering graduate student and an aspiring entrepreneur from India. I have so many ideas and plans but I didn’t know where to start or what to do. I was lost when it comes to a business plan. But after the first meeting in Embark Women, I know I am going to be alright!
The meeting started off with a quick introduction by Ruthie Blair – a natural motivator and speaker about why this initiative was started. It was started as a place for
“Iron sharpening iron. To have conversations. To bounce ideas off of each other. To learn from each other” – Crystal Bryce
There was an amazing turnout. We had women of all business scenes offer to mentor the young and upcoming entrepreneurs to learn from them. I found it very inspiring that experienced busy women are willing to donate their time and effort to mentor the future. I could see this group going a long way as this was exactly the kind of attitude we wanted in the first place!
The past Mayor of Tyler, Barbara Bass, who is the first female mayor to be elected in office in Tyler (she made history!) grace us with her presence. She stressed on the importance of women helping other women succeed and the positive benefits of mentor ship. She also invited the group to attend WF Member-guest Social– to learn about The Women’s fund– who give high impact grants that create positive change for women and children. The delicious and healthy desserts by the lovely Kyna Clendenin, from Ambrosia Foods. She made tasty snacks which were healthy and still we could indulge our sweet-tooth! Contact info: 903.780.2922
Thanks to the sponsors and well wishers, we had a successful event! There was plenty of fun and laughter, and a lot more empowering spirit in the room.
This is an opportunity for every women (leaders and aspiring leaders) to make connections, network, learn and find your mentor, someone who might change your life! Looking forward to meeting more and more inspiring women in future.
Embark women FTW!(For the Win! )
